Crossing the Animals: New Horizons had a great Nintendo launch for the Nintendo smart switch, the company announced on Thursday in its quarterly earnings report. Nintendo sold 13.41 million copies of the game worldwide in its first six weeks of release, covering the period until the end of April. Most of those sales – 11.77 million – came in the first 11 days, from the March 20 game to March 31.
New Horizons currently ranked seventh of Nintendo's list of best-selling games changes, even though that list represents the only sale of the company's most recent financial year on March 31, so we use the 11.77 million figure. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the top seller with 24.77 million copies, per season New Horizons currently living in the background Pokémon: Let's go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's go, Eevee! – but will pass if the latest transaction is considered.
For comparison, Nintendo has sold 17.37 million copies Pokémon sword and Pokémon Shield since coming into effect on November 15, 2019. At the time, Nintendo said those games were "among the fastest Nintendo switch games of all time," with more than 6 million units sold at the launch weekend.
At the time of the call, Nintendo shared a lot of details on sales performance, including that it is now available Change titles by selling over a million copies. Eight of those are Nintendo games, and the other nine are from third-party publishers.
