2020 was a strange year for anime, but there were still some standout titles. For the fifth year in a row, Crunchyroll is hosting its annual Anime Awards to celebrate the best shows, characters, and creators of the year.
This year’s main prize went to Jujutsu Kaisenwhich also won the most awards of any series that year including best antagonist and best ending sequence. Other winners split across some standout series, including Kaguya-sama: love is war
Crunchyroll also honored the second season of RE: zero with the best fantasy series and the best Japanese language performance. My Hero Academia Season 4 took home a couple of awards including Best Fight Scene, an award that has had a lot of competition this year. Finally, Get your hands off Eizouken! has received two prestigious awards this year, winning both best animation and best director.

- Best Result – Kevin Penkin, God’s tower
- Best Director – Masaaki Yuasa, Get your hands off Eizouken!
- Best Character Design – Mayuka Ito, Original Designs by Aidairo, Toilet-bound Hanako-Kun
- Best Couple – Nasa Yuzaki & Tsukasa Yuzaki, TONIKAWA: Over the moon for you
- Best VA performance (JP) – Yusuke Kobayashi as Natsuki Subaru, Re: ZERO – start life in another world– (Season 2)
- Best VA performance (EN) – Zeno Robinson As Hawks, My Hero Academia Season 4
- Best Opening Sequence (OP) – Wild Side (ALI), BEASTARS
