Crusader Kings 3 is a grand strategy game that is notorious for causing the best-laid plans of men and women to often go awry. Characters tend to cheat, spy, go crazy, contract terrible diseases, die in battle, or end up in prison – all of which can prove dangerous to a young dynasty. There will be two new major expansion packs in 2024, including one based around the Byzantine Empire.
Paradox will be released on March 4th Legends of the Dead, a core expansion that allows nobles to commission artists to sing of their great deeds. Legendary dynasties gain access to new decisions, buildings and festivals. You can even have a historian in your court, which is a great combination with all the bards and poets hanging out at festivals.
You just have to be careful of all the new diseases: the bloody flux, measles, something called “holy fire,” and the bubonic plague are all on the table Legends of the Dead. Dealing with other dynasties and peasant revolts is hard enough, but if a terrible plague hits your court, your kingdom could collapse from within.
Players can also expect Paths to power, the expansion of the Byzantine Empire that allows players to rule from Constantinople. Interestingly, Paradox suggests that you may be able to hit the road and live a much more nomadic life as a hired adventurer.
The full chapter can be purchased in advance for $43.98 and includes a Couture of the Capets cosmetic pack. Even though we know it Legends of the Dead is scheduled for March 4th, we will have to wait for further release dates for the other updates.
