The Redemption Tour, the Cyberpunk 2077 has been running since it was brought into a playable state and has resulted in huge sales. Developer CD Projekt Red recently announced that the once-maligned but now refined sci-fi first-person shooter has grossed over $750 million since the game’s release in December 2020.
The Polish studio tweeted the news on March 28th The company’s fiscal year 2023 earnings report. CDPR reported on this on the fourth slide of the presentation CP2077 brought in three billion PLN (or “zloty,” the Polish currency). Converting PLN to USD (using Google, of course) shows that the action-adventure FPS has earned about $751,555,500 so far. My goodness, that’s a lot of dollars.
The slide does not differentiate between the revenue generated Cyberpunk 2077 and those created by expansion in 2023, Phantom freedom. However, as shown in the chart above, sales of the game slowed in 2021 before picking up again in 2022 and almost doubling in 2023 Phantom freedom dropped. Later in the presentation, CDPR revealed this Cyberpunk 2077 and be Phantom freedom DLCs accounted for a majority of the company’s revenue in 2022 and 2023, while games accounted for less in 2023 The Witcher Series. (Quick aside The Witcher: CDPR reconfirmed this in its earnings report 403 of its 627 developers working on “Project Polaris”, a new trilogy in this franchise.)

While CDPR pats itself on the back for the bags of money Johnny Silverhand is holding, the studio also announced this Cyberpunk 2077 has a free trial that goes live on March 28th for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While the free trial only lets you play for five hours does not include access to Phantom freedom, your progress will carry over to the full game when you purchase it. However, it’s a huge download, coming in at a hefty 99.3GB on the PS5 and 103GB on the Xbox Series
