Yes, Cyberpunk 2077 is already in HD– it goes well beyond HD for anyone playing in 2K or 4K, even – but if you’ve ever stopped to look at the game’s ground textures and walls, you might have noticed that they’re not as sharp as some of the attention-grabbing parts of the world.
That’s to be expected, of course, no developer in their right mind would spend as much time in one patch of earth as in the character’s apartment or car. But when a certain type of game reaches a certain level of popularity, there are people out there who want to see what the hell that’s like.
you may not remember but back in 2020 I wrote about a witcher 3 Project conducted by HalkHogana modder who wanted to give Geralt’s world a new look by replacing the game’s default environmental textures with new ones significantly more accurate. This mod turned out to be so good and so successful that the developers CD Projekt Red have included it in their recent next-gen re-release of The witcher 3.
Well, HalkHogan is now back with almost the same thing for the follow-up of CDPR, Cyberpunk 2077the announcement that his HD revised project is now on the road and releasing a video showing some of his work.
While you’d expect adding something like this to the game would come with a performance hit, HalkHogan says that as long as you have enough free VRAM, you won’t notice and will slow down. And when you Dohe releases two versions of the mod:
In general, if you have enough VRAM (video card memory), the modification will not affect performance in any way. Even if you run out of some memory, that shouldn’t be a problem (and if you do, you can always easily uninstall the mod).
There are two versions of the modification, adapted to your graphics card.
Cyberpunk 2077 HD Remastered Project Ultra Quality: contains the highest quality textures and offers the best visual experience. Highly recommended for 2K/4K displays. The game can use up to 800MB more VRAM, so most modern graphics cards should handle it with ease.
Cyberpunk 2077 HD remastered project balanced: Maintains high texture quality with lower VRAM usage. Recommended for graphics cards with less memory. The game can only use about 400MB more VRAM, so basically anyone who can play the game comfortably can use it without significant performance hits, while having noticeably better textures.
Version 1.0 of the project is now available on Nexus Mods.
