CD Projekt makes modding something more convenient for gamers Cyberpunk 2077. Earlier this week, the developer released official mod tools to make it easier for users to create new content for the game. The modding toolkit called REDmod is available on the Games site for free.
CD Projekt bills the modding add-on as downloadable content after launch; REDmod aims not only to help players create their own content, but also to make it easier to install mods. Instead of installing or deleting mods directly from the game’s folders, players can install, enable or disable them through the REDmod Launcher, as long as the mods are compatible with it.
Although REDmod will make things more convenient for developers and players, that doesn’t mean Cyberpunk 2077 does not support older mods. According to CD Projekt’s website, players can still install mods and run them from the archive folder, but these mods will not appear in the REDmod launcher – unless they are updated to support them.
CD Projekt also makes it clear in their post that these tools are for fan use only and should not be turned into anything commercial, meaning modders should not sell their REDmod creations. The company also reminds players that they are still bound by the game’s license agreement, which means mods must avoid offensive and illegal content.
Cyberpunk 2077Official and easily accessible mod support comes almost two full years after the game’s initial release and several months after its launch on current-gen consoles. Cyberpunk 2077The next batch of post-release content is set to arrive sometime in 2023 with the Phantom Liberty expansion, which is said to be the game’s only expansion pack.
