Daredevil writer Chip Zdarsky is the new writer for Batman

The new era of Batman begins with a clown at the wheel.

daredevil Writer (and ex sex offender artist/current Substack comedian) Chip Zdarsky will be joined by frequent Fledermaus artist Jorge Jiménez as the flagship comic’s main creative team, alongside colorist Tomeu Morey. Failsafe, her first story arc in six issues, will start things off with a bang – Zdarsky says the storyline will be Batman’s “Doomsday,” likely a nod to the guy who notoriously killed Superman for a while. Whether that means Batman will die too (for a while), just beating his ass, or something else entirely remains to be seen.

Zdarsky has already gained a foothold in Gotham with a Jason Todd story arc in the anthology series Batman: Urban Legends and the Black Label miniseries Batman: The Knight brings a tense new twist to the character’s familiar origins. His daredevil

run – which Zdarsky confirmed he stays on board for – has already shown a knack for telling clever stories about vigilantes who are not afraid to question the tropes that stop their violent heroes. The art of Jiménez becomes a familiar presence in Gotham as well, with a style that walks the line between two-handed determination and lively dynamism.
