Deadpool and Wolverine Star Ryan Reynolds has shared many clips on social media since the film’s release, but none have been as pointed as today’s 20-second deleted scene. Test footage leaked a decade ago from Dead PoolThe effects sequences in “The 40 Fingers” caused such a stir among fans that 20th Century Fox decided to change course and give the film the green light. With this clip, Reynolds and co. may be hoping for a similar result.

The footage shows Channing Tatum’s Gambit and reveals that he survived the final battle at Cassandra Nova’s mansion – which doesn’t sound like The much, if it weren’t for Reynolds’ tweet caption “Marvel Sparkle Circle” (i.e. Doctor Strange’s magical portal ring) and the clear reflection of that sparkling circle in Tatum’s soulful eyes. This of course implies that some force might have plucked Gambit from the void and brought him to a timeline where it might actually be possible to see him again.
Although technically “deleted,” the footage is also somewhat visible in the film, from a “blink or you’ll miss it” perspective – on one of the monitors in the background of a shot at the TVA. Tatum even referenced the clip in a recent interview with Colliderand said, “At this moment, something is happening that maybe no one knows about.” The actor clearly hasn’t given up hope of playing Gambit again.
This would be another run-of-the-mill fog story if it weren’t for Tatum and Reynolds’ parallel history with Gambit and Deadpool. Both are actors who felt personally invested in their characters – Tatum’s affection may have been swallowed up a little by the story, but for a decade he’s been telling anyone who will listen that he loves Remy LeBeau and want to give him a real Cajun accent
Reynolds and Tatum (whose camp reposted Reynolds’ X-Post) are pushing for a gambit Movie? Looks like they don’t mind. Will they get one? That’s anyone’s guess. But considering how Reynolds went from an unexpected post-cancellation revival to his blockbuster, Dead Pool trilogy, it makes perfect sense that he would advocate for – or at least approve of – it happening for another actor’s favorite superhero.
