Sony has announced that more PlayStation 2 games will be joining PS Plus's Classics catalog next month, and the range includes two of the best platformers ever released on the console: 2004s Sly 2: Band of Thieves and 2005 Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. Oh, and of course a few other things will be available to all PS Plus subscribers in December.
On November 27th, PlayStation revealed some of the games that will be added to PS Plus in December. Note that this is not the complete list. That will be announced later next month.
The big news is that Sony will be adding even more PS2 games to its Classics catalog in December as part of the company's ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations. These older PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games are only available to PS Plus Premium subscribers.
And this time Sony is completing the original Smart Cooper Trilogy with the addition of Smart 2 And Smart 3, the best games in the series. Already in May, Sony added the original Smart Cooper. Since then, I've wondered when or if these other two games would come out. It's nice to see that some of the best platformers ever released on the PS2 are finally playable on PS4 and PS5. It's easier than ever to play through these colorful platformers about a thieving, talking raccoon who steals valuable items from criminals around the world while avoiding the police.
It's a shame that these are just mediocre emulated versions of the PS2 games and not the much better looking and more playable PS3 remasters, but Smart Cooper The fans will take what they can get at this point. (Oh, and Jak and Daxter is also added, which is nice.)
The last game to add is the one from 2013 Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. This would make the entire series playable on PS4 and PS5. Unfortunately, this game was released on PS3 and therefore cannot be played natively on either platform. So if it were available at all, it would be a streaming title. Still, as I said, Cunning Fans will take what they can get.
In the meantime, from December 3rd, all PlayStation Plus subscribers can access It takes two, TemTemAnd Aliens: Dark Descent as part of the free games of the month.
Co-op puzzle game It takes two is a perfect game for the holidays, as you and a family member visiting for a few days can easily play through it in a weekend while devouring leftover food and alcohol. Just make sure the person you're playing with doesn't mind dark moments.
