Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a “Be the Bullet-Hell Game” car shooter à la the ever-popular Vampire survivors. But instead of playing as pixelated characters that wouldn’t be out of place in a certain vampire platforming series, you embody the four dwarves from the Deep Rock Galactic Mining game.
Each of the dwarves has their own weapon and play style, and some of them have access to completely different weapons. You’ll need all of these tools and some upgrades to make your way through the depths of the three different biomes.
In this Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor In this guide, we’ll give you some tips for beginners and show you how to eliminate legions of insects relatively unscathed.
Get your weapons to level 12 as quickly as possible
Every time you get a weapon upgrade Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, you also increase its level. This usually only happens by one, but some rarer upgrades can level up weapons faster. These upgrades are always useful as they provide faster reload speed or increased damage. But when you first unlock a weapon, you’ll want to upgrade it to level 12 before ending your run.
This will unlock special overclock upgrades for your weapons. The next time you go diving, you’ll be able to purchase new upgrades that can drastically change the functionality of this weapon when you reach certain level thresholds. These upgrades are extremely powerful. So unlocking overclocking for as many weapons as possible will really boost your performance Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.
Read the weapon descriptions carefully
The weapons inside Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor They all work differently and some are a bit silly. For this reason, you’ll want to make sure you read a weapon’s description carefully when you first pick it up, as it may only fire at enemies when your back is turned, or only at things you’re facing .
One of the best examples of this is the Engineer class’ starting weapon, the LMG turret. Some towers – like this one – collect charges and will only pop out if you stand still for a second. If you don’t stop dumping your towers, you’re essentially wasting a very powerful tool. So be sure to familiarize yourself with the weapons before using them seriously.
Look at the milestones to set a goal
In games like Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, it’s not always clear what you should do. Of course, there are objectives for each level and difficulty that will earn you bonus upgrades if you complete them. But there are also milestones in the milestone menu through which you unlock new weapons and artifacts.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor does a great job of showing you the milestones you’ve already achieved when you start a new dive. However, I recommend taking a look at the Milestones menu before each dive so you can see what you’re about to unlock. Finding that you only need to do a little more cold damage to unlock a new artifact might change the type of weapons and upgrades you choose on your next dive.
Make paths through the rocks
Because Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor When mining is combined with killing legions of insects, it can be tempting to clear away large boulders and leave all the ground clean so you have freedom of movement. Resist this urge! Instead, cut simple paths through the rocks and then come out the other side.
Insects will take the fastest possible route to you, and if you create a small path for them, they will all go down the funnel. This can slow down bugs, which is great, but it can also create a sort of killbox for you, giving you the chance to decimate a legion of bugs (especially if you’re playing a Gunner) from relative safety.
Note that some of the larger bugs can also do some mining. So be careful if you rely too heavily on these tunnels.
Don’t underestimate the speed of my mine
As I explained before, mining is a pretty important part of it Deep Rock Galactic: Survivorand it’s partly what sets this game apart from others in the genre Vampire survivors. If you’re not used to it Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, you may think you should devote all your resources to increasing your damage or survivability. But while these things are very important, increasing your mining speed can get you out of some serious trouble.
One of the easiest ways to protect yourself is to dive through a nearby rock to easily escape a difficult situation. If you have a slow mining speed, you could be caught before you can ever escape, which would cause your health to drain faster than you thought possible. Another reason speed is useful when mining is because you have to cut through rocks to get resources like gold. These resources can help you purchase upgrades between floors, but you’ll also need other, denser resources to unlock permanent upgrades for your dwarves outside of dives.
Bait Exploder Bugs
One of the most dangerous types of beetles ever Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor are the exploder beetles, which are large, orange and hard to miss. They travel in a pack with the other bugs and will explode and cause massive damage if you get too close. The thing is, you can use these guys to your advantage if you are quick and careful.
Since these beetles travel in packs and cause damage to other beetles near them, you can actually get close, wait for them to glow, and then run away as quickly as possible. If you do this correctly, you can set off a chain reaction that can blow up an entire swarm of insects. Not only is this a great way to get rid of a group of bugs, but it’s also extremely efficient for killing elite bugs and farming XP.
Learn to manipulate the Exploder bugs and you will soon achieve great success Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.
Drop supply beacons on boss bugs
As you make your way through each floor, you will be notified that a supply signal has appeared on the map. If you find one of these, dig up all the stones nearby and stand nearby for a few seconds, you will summon a capsule and grab a new artifact. This is almost always worth it as you can get some powerful artifacts that will increase your health or even give you XP every time you take damage. But there’s something even better about these pods, if you time them right: they make a difference ton of damage.
If you keep these supply beacons until the boss comes out, then let him spin around in circles while you wait, the capsule can fall on the boss’s head, killing him instantly. This even works for the massive boss at the end of the dive – although in this case it just does a lot of damage rather than killing him outright.
Use these supply beacons to quickly eliminate bosses and collect an artifact before exiting each level. It’s a very useful trick and a lot of fun to watch.
