The destiny 2 community mourned the loss from John Wick And The cable Actor Lance Reddick along with everyone else following his recent death. But Bungie confirms that the voice behind the main character, Commander Zavala, has a few more appearances in the game.

“As an actor, musician, gamer, and family man, the passion Lance had for the things he loved was reflected in the eyes and hearts of all who loved him,” Bungie wrote in a blog entry on Thursday. “For now, we will honor his presence through his upcoming achievements in-game and in the memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.”

It’s not clear how much Reddick recorded for the game before his untimely death. It’s possible that his voice work for Zavala will end at the end of the current Season of Defiance, or that his performances in the upcoming Season of Deeps and beyond may have already concluded. destiny 2‘s story moves at a snail’s pace, and even a few dozen lines can make a big difference in the game.

reddick spoke Zavala for almost 10 yearsDeployment of King Arthur destiny 2‘s Camelot both a strict moral center and a penitent humanity. Not only have fans paid their respects to the actor, which features his NPC in the game’s Social Hub section, but they’ve also wondered how Bungie will wrap up his engaging story arc.

The last time a main character died in the game, it was exo-hunter Cayde-6, played by Nathan Fillion. The plot point proved to be an important catalyst for the events to come destiny 2‘S The Forsaken Expansion and naturally fits into the development of the live service game. It’s not clear if Bungie planned a similar fate for Reddick’s Zavala, which now exists in a much more story-focused version of destiny 2 where the emotional development of the characters is the focus of each season. While Cayde-6 was a popular video game character, the loss of Zavala is more like a hit TV show having to write one of its main characters off.

Key characters have been recast in the past, most notably the Warlock Ikora Rey previously voiced by Gina Torres (Firefly) and has since been replaced by Mara Junot (fireheart). However, it seems hard to imagine doing that with Zavala at this point, and there have been previous hints that the character may not survive the game’s upcoming war with The Darkness. We’ll know better later this year how Bungie decides to end Reddick’s legacy destiny 2‘S final shape expansion approaches.
