The developers behind THQ Nordics Destroy all people! 2 Remake, which will be released sometime next year, recently explained in an interview why the remake of the cult classic avoids PS4, Xbox One and counter. The team opted for larger, more detailed, open-world levels on next-gen consoles rather than sacrificing quality or size for the older machines.
Almost a year after the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S were released, the consoles are still hard to find and most of the big (and small) games announced so far remain cross-gen releases
So it may seem strange that a remake of a cult classic from the PS2 era, Destroy all people! 2, is one of the few exclusive PS5 and Xbox Series X / S releases announced for 2022. In an interview with The dropout, the developer of Black Forest Games (the same people who run the original DAH! make new) explained why the team was only focusing on the new consoles. According to them, bigger, better looking worlds can be created without compromising the game for older consoles like the Switch.
“That was a very difficult decision for everyone,” explains Stefan Schmitz, the Black Forest’s deputy creative director.
“Either we would have had to deliver the new game with potentially weaker graphics compared to the DAH! 1 remake in order to accommodate the larger and denser maps of the second game, or we would have to do without the old generation and regain this optimization time and then give it back to Team to have a bigger, better world and combat experience. We chose the latter as it was a big step forward Destroy All Humans 2 – Resounded
Schmitz gave an example The dropout describes how the developers managed to put five times as many objects into the larger levels, which gives players more depth and detail to discover while roaming around as an alien invader Crypto.

Naturally, as new consoles continue to be difficult to find Except for a few fans, I won’t be too happy about the decision to leave the old machines behind. However, I’m also happy that developers are allowed to focus on the newer, more powerful hardware instead of having to compromise in order to get a game to work on almost decades-old hardware the original Xbox One.
