Chris Galletta, the writer behind the 2013 indie dramedy The Kings of Summer, is reportedly penning the script. Ryan Reynolds, who voiced Pikachu in the first film, hasn’t said anything publicly about it but is said to have “some roles in the upcoming sequel.” meeting‘s sources.
Pokemon: Detective Pikachu was adapted from 3DS game of the same name and told the story of a budding Pokémon trainer and a criminal Pikachu trying to unravel a vast pharmaceutical conspiracy. It takes place in a near-future, computer-animated world Pokemon mingle with people in a way both bizarre, mundane and often funny. Lighthearted but not overly sugary, the film grossed $433.2 million at the box office on a budget of $150 million. So, four years later, it’s not clear what the heist is.
