Devil immortal – analysis

analysis, Devil, Immortal

It seems like ages since Diablo Immortal was announced at BlizzCon 2018, an announcement that will go down in history for that iconic “Don’t you have a phone?” moment. But almost four years have passed and now Blizzard Entertainment, with the help of NetEase, has finally put an end to the wait and is about to release Diablo Immortal worldwide for iOS, Android and PC. With the release scheduled for tomorrow, or should I say in a couple of hours, I’ve gotten back into the game and there are a few things I want to comment on.

But first I want to remove the stigma surrounding this game as a mobile title. Yes, that means there will be touch controls, a limited communication system, and that it’s focused on people dedicating 20 minutes of free time to which, of course, microtransactions will be added. But you can still see it clearly IT a full-fledged Diablo game.

I mean it has all the typical ingredients of a good Diablo game. Be it the variety of characters to choose from; the many locations full of missions, challenges and countless types of enemies; ever-expanding dungeons with exclusive bosses; the massive amount of loot and gear that give you bonuses that you can combine to create extravagant and powerful mixes; and above all, the wide range of difficulty options that allow you to adapt the experience to the level of your character and your skills. And all this without taking into account that Immortal Devil also offers a wide and complex story that you can enjoy without any obstacles. It’s true that sometimes you have to be of a certain level to gain access to a new area, so you’ll have to go back and gain some experience in other ways (e.g. through daily rewards), but the most important thing is that you you can go all out in the campaign that the game offers every day if you want.

This applies to the entire game as there are very few restrictions on how you can play it. If you’re the type of person who enjoys trying to get a specific version of a weapon or armor, Diablo Imortal has everything you need to do it, with dungeons you can replay to get unique loot that pops up from time to time shows up. In the same way, if you are looking for a game to entertain you on the way to work or to play half an hour before bed, you will like this title also with short missions and interesting dungeons to which is added the possibility, closing the game to come back to later and losing little or no progress.

Having said that, I have to say that Diablo Immortal falters when it comes to bringing in new players. The story takes place between Diablo II and Diablo III, so there are many more things you need to know to fully enjoy the game. On the other hand, the complex RPG systems are presented and explained in a way that sometimes leaves you with even more questions, which I think could put off new players whose first experience with the Diablo universe is like this.

However, for those who already have this knowledge and are veterans of Diablo and action RPGs, it’s a game that will surprise you with its depth and low greed for a mobile title. It’s true that there are microtransactions, generally for accessories and premium currency, that you can use to buy gems that enhance the loot you find while exploring Elder Rifts, the extensive list of repeatable multiplayer dungeons be able. But these transactions aren’t the most important thing, and you can get Gems and try everything the game has to offer without paying a dime.

While Blizzard has yet to prove itself in the mobile market, NetEase is known for its work on other big titles in the industry, and this collaboration between the two gaming companies results in a product that combines the best of both companies. We have before us a game marked by the well-known care that Blizzard puts in its titles, in which to appreciate the rich and fascinating universe so characteristic of the Californian developer’s games. But at the same time we find the functionality, the fluid game system, the multiplayer mode and the top-notch optimization (which means that I was able to play it on my iPhone 11 Pro at 60 FPS with Ultra graphics without completely draining the battery on my mobile ) owns NetEase and his experience with this kind of games.

Speaking of multiplayer, Blizzard and NetEase have continued to refine this aspect until it’s a breeze to team up to complete difficult missions. We can create or join clans to participate in the Fight Cycle server, where the most powerful players of each Immortal Devil server will be rewarded. The latest novelty will be leaving the clans once the cycle is over, so you can form a community and keep growing with a group of players, in true MMO style.

For those of you wondering, the controller support is also much better than it was during the closed beta. Now you can play Diablo Immortal almost without touching the screen, although I have to say that if you opt for the non-touchscreen version, the navigation menu is a bit finicky.

I recently had the opportunity to speak to lead designer Scott Burgess; during the href=”https://www.igamesnews.eu/pc-problems-crazy-cosmetics-and-a-lot-of-confidence-we-chat-with-blizzard-about-diablo-immortal-1087423/” title=”PC problems Freaky cosmetics and a whole lotta confidence: We chat with Blizzard about Diablo Immortal” target=”_blank”>interview, he told me that this would be “one of the most important Diablo games yet” It’s hard to disagree with him now that the start is getting closer. The amount of content it offers us is enormous; Content that, just like in the other Diablo titles, will make you keep playing and exploring the world to gradually become more powerful.

So many times over the years have I been disappointed with a mobile game that Diablo Immortal seemed too good to be true. I’m still hoping that I’ll be let down by the monetization, or by obstacles that prevent me from accessing certain content, or maybe by a mediocre optimization that makes the title unplayable, no matter what little thing they hid during early access, the I have tried . But so far I haven’t come across any of that, and Blizzard has managed to create a game that may not be perfect, but it aspires to be one of the best options the mobile gaming market has seen to date. .
