Added a new and powerful weapon Diablo IVLast season suddenly caused some players to level up incredibly quickly. One player jumped over 30 levels after killing a boss. Blizzard has now found the cause of this error and released a temporary fix.
Blizzard’s action RPG, Diablo IV, started its newest season yesterday. This is the fifth season of the RPG and a new Horde mode has been added, as well as a huge list of big and small improvementsplus new equipment and powerful weapons.
However, one of these powerful weapons – Umbracrux, a unique dagger that only rogues can use – was causing strange things to happen, earning players millions of XP in a matter of seconds. A video on Reddit showed a player killing a fortress boss and jump from level 29 to level 63 in a second. Wow! At first nobody was sure why this happened exactly, some suspected that it was a bug with the rogue class and its interaction with the new dagger. But Blizzard has intervened and offered an explanation and a temporary solution.
On August 7 Diablo Director of Global Community Development Adam Fletcher has given a response in Blizzard’s official forums.
“The team has been made aware of an issue where players could gain a significant amount of experience when killing certain bosses with the unique weapon ‘The Umbracrux,'” Fletcher posted. “We will be disabling the unique power of this weapon while we work on a fix.”
Fletcher went on to explain that players can no longer spawn Shadow Totems with the dagger, which is its unique power and is likely the thing that breaks in some wild way to trigger those XP explosions for some players. The community director said that players can still find this weapon via loot drops and can technically still equip and use it, too. But its unique ability is currently disabled for everyone.
“As soon as we have a final solution, we will re-enable this and communicate it to players,” Fletcher said. “Thank you for all the reports on this issue. We hope to have a final solution for this soon.”
Unfortunately, this is not possible for those who want to reach power levels with this trick. But hey, Another bug players discovered with tempering recipes is not will be patched this season, so you can still take advantage of this fun glitch, assuming you played last season and earned some plans to carry over into the new season. If not, then slay demons, level up, and earn loot the old-fashioned way.
