The The entertainment industry in Los Angeles, typically a hub of Hollywood production, is stalling again in response to the unprecedented, essentially uncontrolled proliferation of production novel coronavirus in LA County.
As reported by Deadline16 shows have had their production start delayed due to the recent spike in Covid cases in the region. The shows that were produced under the Disney TV Studios banner were supposed to resume by January 11th or so, but are now being postponed until at least January 18th.
The production includes The Orville and American horror story, as well as a number of less io9 core shows like This is us, last man standing
The move comes amid a call by the LA Department of Public Health to delay production. This allows the shows to meet the county’s quarantine guidelines for travelers and allow time for additional Covid tests. It’s a uniquely harrowing time: the ICU capacity in the area is 0%, and another home stay arrangement is in the hope of slowing the rampant spread of the infection. Hopefully the studios will meet the requirement and find ways to keep people safe. The TV shows can honestly wait.
