The new Avengers Campus, also known as Marvel Land, opens on Friday at Disney California Adventure. The area will be the largest Marvel-themed land in a Disney theme park of all time. And while travel is still difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fans can get in the mood for the opening celebrations online.
The Avengers Campus opening ceremony at Disneyland Resort begins Wednesday at 11:15 p.m. EDT / 8:15 p.m. PDT. The livestream will be on Disneyland’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels
The concept behind Avengers Campus is pretty simple: The most powerful heroes on earth want to recruit park guests. To this end, they have created a campus (Centralized Assembly Mobilized to Prepare, Unite, and Safeguard). So it’s essentially a huge superhero school.
Granted, Marvel Land is not set in the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For example, you can see some superheroes walking around who died in im Avengers: Endgame Timeline.
Still, it will have a lot going for MCU superfans in Marvel Land, and it should bring out the flair of a Disney park. One of the first rides in the new area is a mega-expensive Spider-Man simulator that uses gesture technology to bring web slinging to life. Visitors can also discover a variety of MCU-inspired restaurants.
