Last year was dr. Three headline GTA OnlineThe latest update from , The Contract. However, it took some convincing to actually have him appear digitally in the game. According to a new interview, he initially declined because he didn’t really know much about it GTA and thought it was “for kids”.
In conversation with BETDJ Pooh – a screenwriter and music producer who has since worked with Rockstar san andreas— talked about how disinterested Dr. Dre initially was when Rockstar proposed the idea of him appearing on the show GTA Online.
“It was just no at first,” Pooh said. “But the answer initially was no because Dre is not a gamer. He just didn’t play any of the games. It’s not that he doesn’t like them or anything, he just didn’t play them. He said I don’t do things for children.”
It may seem odd that anyone would assume GTA Online is a game for children, but remember that Dr. Dre is a very, very rich person with a great career and is probably a busy man most days. It’s not shocking that he didn’t find the time to sit down and play GTA Game. And if he did sit down to play GTA Onlinehe’d probably run into a bunch of kids blowing him up with jet bikes or begging for money and end up walking away, assuming yes it’s a kid’s game.
But DJ Pooh didn’t give up, Dr. to invite Dre GTA Online. As he said BET, he brought a PlayStation to the award-winning rapper’s Calabasas mansion and hooked it up to Dre’s massive TV. Pooh wanted Dre to see first hand what GTA Online actually was and clear up any misunderstandings.

“He was blown away,” said Pooh. “He didn’t know you could do all these things – all the levels of gameplay that people call the metaverse, but it’s even better than that. He said, ‘This shit is awesome,’ and he sees me in one Driving lowriders around. We out here putting different rims on the car, taking part in a shootout, hanging out with my friends, I have a girlfriend – all of that!”

After that, and some discussions with Rockstar, Dr. Dre his opinion and decided to be a part of it GTA Online. Not only did he provide his voice and some new songsbut also did motion capture for Rockstar in a custom-built mocap stage that replicated his recording studio.
The end result was The Contract, one of the best GTA Online updates ever released, featuring new story content featuring GTA V protagonist Franklin and more. And the involvement of Dr. Dre – complete with new tracks – was a big reason the update was so well received. And all it took was DJ Pooh to stop by Dre’s Mansion and play something GTA with him.
Now appears Dr. Dre in the recently confirmed-exist GTA6? Only (probably a lot) time will tell…
