The creatures are quite rare in Hyrule, but there’s plenty of good reason to track down all the elusive dragons. Each of these mythical creatures has its own characteristics, flight paths, elemental dangers – and rewards. Even if you know the dragons well Zelda: Breath of the Wildd there are numerous differences in their paths and route patterns in the sequel, as well as a new fourth dragon to find.
Dragon locations and paths in Tears of the Kingdom
There are four dragons in it Tears of the Kingdom: the three you met breath of the wildand a fourth dragon new to the series.
- Farosh: Commonly seen around Lake Hylia and Gerudo Canyon.
- Naydra: Often seen around East Necluda and Mount Lanayru area.

As part of their flight path, Farosh, Naydra, and Dinraal will fly in and out of chasms within their respective regions. However, the Light Dragon can always be found on the surface.
Unlike in breath of the wild, Tears of the Kingdom Kite locations are not tied to times of day. Instead, the kites continuously circle their route. So if you don’t see a dragon on the surface, it’s probably because it’s in the depths. Your best bet is to either wait where they are or try to catch them on the other side of the chasm.
How to jump on a dragon in Tears of the Kingdom
The first step in mounting a kite is not surprising: gaining some altitude. Luckily, there are usually at least two Skyview towers surrounding each dragon path, allowing you to quickly switch between areas and lift yourself up so you can easily spot the dragon and glide over it. Other options, like using Recall on skyrocks on the ground or simply building a flying vehicle with Zonai gadgets, will also get you close to the dragons.
Finally, remember that apart from the Light Dragon, the others will attack you with their respective element – Lightning for Farosh, Frost for Naydra, and Fire for Dinraal. Also, each dragon will be exposed to extreme weather conditions due to its element, so you’ll need to prepare accordingly beforehand. Farosh, Lightning Dragon location
Farosh circumnavigates Gerudo Canyon, Mount Nabooru, Mount Hylia, River of the Dead, and Scout’s Hill before entering the Depths. Then the dragon resurfaces from the chasm south of Gerudo Canyon.
To make it easier for you to see Farosh, you can use the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower to soar.
Farosh shoots out lightning bolts at those who approach it, and it is constantly surrounded by a thunderstorm. To resist Farosh’s lighting, craft elixirs or meals that can give you resistance to electricity. For added protection, get the Rubber Armor set that makes Link shockproof. You can grab the chest piece in a chest in Whistling Hill Cave – it’s located southeast of Hyrule Field, north of the Teniten Shrine by the coordinates (-0073, -1045, 0019).
Naydra, location of the Frost Dragon
Naydra circles Mount Lanayru, Walnot Mountain, Kitano Bay, Ebon Mountain, Meda Mountain, the Cliffs of Quince and the village of Kakariko before entering the depths of the East Hill Chasm. Then the dragon resurfaces from the chasm west of Mount Lanayru.
To spot Naydra more easily, you can climb Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower and Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower.
Naydra shoots ice balls at those who approach them, freezing the air around them. There are several things you can do to resist the Naydra’s Freeze. Dinraal, Fire Dragon location
Dinraal flies around the outer reaches of Death Mountain, encircling East Akkala, North Akkala Beach, Akkala Wilderness, Skull Lake, Eldin’s Flank, Lake Darunia, and the Thyphlo Ruins. Then the dragon descends into the depths and reemerges from the chasm of the East Akkala Plains.
Dinraal can be difficult to spot due to Death Mountain obscuring visibility depending on location. To find Dinraal more easily, you can climb Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower.
Dinraal shoots fireballs at those who approach him, and the air around them is dangerously hot. There are several things you can do to resist the Dinraal’s fire. Again, it’s all about consuming the elixirs, eating beneficial food, and adorning yourself with strategic armour, such as the Desert Voe set. Location of the Dragon of Light
The Light Dragon is the most elusive dragon of all, as the creature’s route spans the entire outskirts of Hyrule. Locations where the Light Dragon flies include Lake Goronbi, Zora’s Domain, Hateno Village, Lindor’s Forehead, and the Thyphlo Ruins. The advantage is that once you’ve found the Light Dragon, it won’t attack you if you get close to it.

Dragon parts in Tears of the Kingdom
A big incentive to track down the four dragons is farming dragon parts. They make a great fuse combo as they deal a lot of damage and also give the weapon the dragon’s elemental power. They are also great for cooking recipes and elixirs, and are required for certain armor upgrades.
