Have you ever looked at the food from video games and immediately started drooling because it looked so delicious? Yes, me neither. Or at least not until I saw some steaks being cooked on an open flame Dragon’s Dogma 2The flesh shone and marbled so lifelike that I was sure it was expertly crafted CGI. But no, it turns out that the flesh we saw in the upcoming high fantasy action RPG is very real, director Hideaki Itsuno confirmed.

Itsuno recently spoke to the Japanese gaming outlet 4Gamer around Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the design principles that went into the sequel. While talking 4Gamer Itsuno asked about the “realistic” meat you can grill while camping in the game, and the interviewer commented, “Just looking at it made me hungry.” Well, Itsuno revealed, there’s a good reason for that: “We could have used CG “To represent the meat,” he said, “but we decided to spend the money on buying good meat instead.” That’s how it came to its current form. Every type of meat available in the game looks different when grilled.”
If you haven’t had a chance to see the game’s delicious meats for yourself, let me point you to Exhibit A The player:
The video above is from a September 2023 preview and includes footage from The player‘s practical time with Dragon’s Dogma 2. At around 3:30 p.m., the player grills a piece of meat and the camera lovingly pans over a strangely real-looking bone-in steak sizzling in a cast-iron skillet. I mean, these “graphics” are breathtaking! I would really want that GameScent For this part, just so I can smell the smell of meat charring on an open flame. Well, the “graphics” here are breathtaking because this is a real piece of steak that is actually grilled on a real fire. And now I want steak for dinner. Thank you, Capcom.
