Capcom’s high fantasy role-playing game Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be receiving a new update across all platforms this month that makes some much-needed changes, including one that makes Pawns more reliable, less stupid, and less chatty. We love Pawns that do their jobs silently, but one of the most notable changes in this upcoming patch does the dreaded Dragon Plague Illness easier to cope with.

Dragon Plague is a viral infection that only affects farmers. This disease causes all sorts of problems for your loyal servants, from disobedience to pulsating red eyes to headaches. These are all signs that something is wrong, but if you don’t catch these indicators early, then as Capcom warns a pop-up message in the gameThere will be “devastating misfortune”. This misfortune? The infected farmer turns into a shadow dragon and kills everyone in the city, which sucks because if you don’t know what to look for, it’s possible you’ll ignore the warnings and be forced to clean up the mess that’s yours loyal servant left behind. However, in an upcoming update, the deadly disease will be more visible and therefore slightly less disruptive.
“Reducing the frequency of Dragon Plague infection and adjusting the signs of Dragon Plague-infected Pawns to make them more recognizable,” Capcom wrote in the April 19 patch notes. “When you have an infection, for example, glowing eyes are more noticeable.”
The bright red eyes are currently difficult to see, especially if you gave your Pawn the red eyes the character creator. With the coming Dragon’s Dogma 2 After the update, you will be able to zoom in on characters’ faces in the status menu. If these eyes are red and glowing, your best course of action is to either dismiss the farmer or kill him outright. Shit, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Get to work, Doctor Arisen. You’re needed.
There are also other necessary changes to the pawn’s behavior in this patch. You don’t fall off cliffs as often, which is great. I’m tired of constantly rescuing my farmers, especially when escaping through treacherous mountains. And now they will actually guide you when you tell them, where before they would have just ignored your request. Plus, they don’t talk as much anymore (finally!) and help when you need more (finally again!). But the best part? You’ll finally be able to high-five them more effectively – before, the animations simply didn’t play, no matter how close you were to your pawn’s outstretched hand. I love it. There’s nothing like a celebratory fist bump or high-five after killing a dragon.
