While elden ring is technically playable in co-op, so the intricate way of the developersSoftware implemented the mode, meaning hardly anyone ever bothers. That’s going to change, Thanks to this incredible mod through Luke Yui.
It does… basically what you would have hoped official co-op would do, allowing you and some friends to jump into the game together and just play without any weird rules or restrictions getting in the way. Here is the official description:
Simply put, the mod allows you to play with friends throughout the game without any restrictions. It is theoretically possible to play the game from the tutorial to the final boss in a co-op session.
– If a player dies, they will be revived at the last campfire they rested at in the same world. The session does not end.
– Defeating enemy bosses and clearing areas no longer sends staff home.
– All smoke screens/barriers that normally restrict the multiplayer zone (along with their respective teleporters) are gone.
– All players can torrent together (provided they have the whistle) in one session.
– All waypoints on the map are synchronized, making it easier to navigate the world in a group.
– Resting a player in a Place of Grace will reset the world state for all players. This is necessary to prevent enemy desync.
– Game progression events completed in online play advance the game in your own world as well.
Players can explore the entire game map (overworld, underground, legacy dungeons, etc.) together and split up if they wish.
Anyone can use torrent? Waypoints are syncing? Is your progression transferring? Amastonishing! Of course, getting all of this to work required some changes to the base experience. Most importantly, the ability to wander around with friends indefinitely makes the game a lot easier. As such, a number of balance adjustments have been made, including adding a third tier of enemy scaling, locking everyone who dies in a boss fight into a spectator mode, and putting Rot on anyone who dies in a co-op session.
invasions are gone because they don’t work with the way co-op was built, and Marika’s stakes have also been removed because they cause “connection issues”. And the whole thing basically comes with a warning that while it’s working, it’s also a work in progress and players will encounter bugs everywhere.
