Elden ring is currently one of the largest highly acclaimed games in recent times and also his fair share of problems on the computer and PS5. Recently, countless Xbox players have reported that they can no longer play the open-world role-playing game online since its launch yesterday.
While the centerpiece of Elden ring is its beautiful, tough and mysterious single player adventure, coop and multiplayer also play an important role. As in previous Dark Souls games, players can invade each other’s games to fight difficult bosses or offer help. Except apparently on Xbox, where players say they keep being bombarded with network error messages when trying to play the game in online mode.
“Hasn’t worked for 36 hours” wrote a player on the Elden ring Subreddit in a post that received thousands of upvotes. ‘Please confirm FromSoftware and update us.’ There are also a number of other discussions on this topic on Reddit, Discord, and Twitter. Tweets from the official Elden ring
Players suspect it is related to a recent calibration update called version 1.02.1. Anyone who has the update can go online. Those who don’t can’t, but aren’t sure how to install the latest version either. It appears to be affecting players on both legacy Xbox Ones and current-gen Xbox Series X/Ss. The only official mention of a problem on the Bandai Namco support page says that “online issues on the Xbox platform” are currently being investigated.
Bandai Namco and Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Despite staggering records for the past Dark Souls Play on Twitch and Steam, Elden ring recently saw its rating average on Valve’s storefront pounce on performance issues. However, that hasn’t stopped it from hosting one of the biggest PC launches of all time. There are currently almost 800,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. I launched it last night on PS5 and was immediately intrigued and overwhelmed. Looking forward to diving back in for the rest of the weekend.
