Epic Games has acquired the technology and business of RAD Game Tools, according to technology to a post on the official Epic Games website. RAD Game Tools is a video game software development company. According to the post, its products and technologies appear in nearly 25,000 games and are used by the world’s leading game companies, including Epic.
Epic Games owns the Epic Games Store and Unreal Engine, a powerful and popular game development tool. The statement went on to say, “Epic and RAD plan to incorporate RAD’s powerful technology with Unreal Engine to help both the developer community and gamers.”

In short, the plan is for RAD’s team and technology to work with Unreal Engine’s rendering, animation, insights and audio teams to improve the systems and infrastructures used by game developers. While Epic now owns RAD, RAD will continue its existing work with partners in the game industry, television and film, including those who do not use Unreal Engine in their work.
