Evil star Cynthia Erivo is desperate to play Storm in X-Men

“Evil” actress Cynthia Erivo clearly has a penchant for playing flying characters. In an interview at the National Board of Review Awards Gala, Erivo was asked what her “dream role” is for her future. And now she said she's ready to face one of the most famous superheroes in history.

Unlike Erivo's recent portrayal of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West in “Wicked,” she revealed that her dream role is Storm, the character from Marvel's “X-Men.”

“I really want to play Storm,” Erivo told the interviewer. “I know it sounds flippant, but I don't think we've figured out how amazing she is and how much she has in her,” the 38-year-old continued. “I think there’s a world where we could do something with this.”

Storm, the weather-controlling superhero mutant, rose to fame in Marvel Comics in the 1970s. The character was portrayed on the big screen by Alexandra Shipp and, most notably, Halle Berry.

Since Erivo expressed interest in playing the silver-haired character, many online have expressed their excitement, while others apparently don't think she's suited for the role. But on They wrote, “I don't know why everyone acts like Cynthia Erivo doesn't bodystorm.”

Another user, @taystytee, said Erivo did so well in “Wicked” that they should cast her as Storm and then “make it a musical…”

Even a former X-Men showrunner, Beau DeMayo, said Erivo as Storm was “an absolute no-brainer.” Accordingly, DeMayo was fired from the animated X-Men reboot after allegations of “egregious” misconduct came to light diversity.

Now could be the perfect time for Erivo to land her dream role, as Marvel has begun slowly integrating the original X-Men characters into its current universe, reports say movieweb.com. But Erivo isn't the only actress interested in the role.

Previously, Janelle Monae has expressed interest while playing Storm. We'll just have to let Marvel executives decide on the best star for the role.
