Fallout: London may not be an official Stand out game developed and published by Bethesda, but it was a huge success nonetheless. And the massive free mod released last month just got its first major update, which fixes a few things and weakens the deadly fox packs that roam around post-apocalyptic London.
After a long wait and a last minute delay due to a large Fallout4 update, Fallout: London available for free on July 25th. The “game” is technically a free, fan-made mod for Fallout4 on the PC, but it feels more like a new game from Bethesda. And while the reception to Fallout: London was generally positive, but there were complaints about game crashes and annoying bugs. However, a newly released update should help stabilize the mod.
On August 9, Good Old Games, which is working with the modders to Fallout: London, confirmed in a press release that the game’s first major update is now live. It was also confirmed that over 500,000 copies of the mod were downloaded in the first 24 hours.
One thing immediately caught my eye in the detailed patch notes is that foxes have been slightly nerfed in this update. That’s good News for the many, many player who have complained about an attack And killed by these furry little bastards while playing Fallout: London.
Some fans started joking that they were worse than the infamous Deathclaws. I wouldn’t go that far, but a pack of foxes can kill you quickly if they show up at the wrong time, like after a fight or when you’re low on ammo.
Another positive change is the reduction in the amount of radiation damage you take per second when swimming around in the game’s water. Previously, the damage was an incredibly high 250 rads per second, which basically meant you were dead every time you slipped into the water. Now London’s Water only deals 169 rads per second, which is still enough to be cautious, but not enough to instantly kill you if you slide off a platform.
These all seem to be good changes to me and I am looking forward to being back in Fallout: London soon. Hopefully it won’t crash for me anymore either. Here are the full patch notes for this update:
