Starting a new MMO is one of the most daunting things a video game gamer can do. Games like Final Fantasy 14th have huge, sprawling worlds with hundreds of hours of quests and more systems than 10 AAA games combined. Therefore, the key to a good experience is to guide a player through their first 10 hours and remind them that this game is well worth their time.
But nothing gives a gamer an incentive to stick with an MMO than to see all the cool shit you can unlock as you level up, and nothing makes that as good as Final Fantasy 14.
How many have I been for a long time? World of Warcraft
Even as an MMO veteran, you’re immersed in something like FF14 is daunting. I may have the language to understand and the experience of knowing that YouTube videos, hobby websites, and veteran friends will be my best tools, but there is still so much to learn.
These first 10 to 20 levels are so important for any MMO because it has to carefully guide players like me and complete newbies through mind-boggling tutorials and one-on-one skill battles. It’s the easiest time to s top, though FF14
While I’m not a huge mount collector or glamor gamer in MMOs, I still appreciate cool looking collectibles, and cool stuff is never far from your eye in FF14. The capitals have huge crystals and characters dressed up to the nines. Some players are at the max level and wear shiny armor, others still level like me but have silly cosmetics on, like a chocobo helmet.
When I first left my capital city, I had the chance to jump on a mount and ride off more experienced players. I enjoyed Sesame Street and Big Bird as a kid so I’m done with a cool looking chocobo. But when I saw a max level player drive by at The Regalia, the car was from Final Fantasy 15
Final Fantasy 14 offers tons of those moments when something extremely bizarre catches your eye in the right way. It’s a sensory overload, but of the “I have to have it” sort of thing. I’ll never get the limited-time Regalia for myself, but one day I’ll fly over the heads of some new, bright eyes FF14 Player on my equally silly mount. And they will look at me with the same eagerness as they do now, knowing that they have found a new home.
To update: I was informed by a kind reader that the limited-time Regalia will be returning for a limited time later this year. If one day new players look up to me with hope, I think I will will cruising in a sick flying car.
