A new job is coming up Final Fantasy 14 with this summer Dawn Trail Expansion: the Pictomancer, a magician who casts his spells with a brush and palette. Square Enix and FF14 Producer/director Naoki Yoshida unveiled the Pictomancer this weekend at Fan Festival 2024 in Tokyo, alongside other new additions to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game.
The Pictomancer is described as a magical ranged DPS job that uses mixed ether as a medium, painting creatures, weapons and even landscapes to transform them from fantasy to reality. These summons take time, as seen in the Pictomancer gameplay teaser above, so the job can also utilize instant cast abilities.

Final Fantasy 14: Dawn Trail, the MMO’s fifth expansion, will be released sometime this summer. It will send players on a journey to the new Tural region for a “vacation” after the events of 2021 Endwalker Narrative. Final Fantasy 14 is currently available for Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. An Xbox Series X version is coming this spring and will support crossplay with other versions of the game.
