fire sign engage will start in a little over two months. So far, fans of the turn-based tactical RPG don’t have much to do aside from the game’s announcement trailer back in September and a story setup from last week that revealed heroes from previous games will be joining players in their new adventure.
That’s where Wednesday’s trailer comes in. This five-minute breakdown explains what Intelligent Systems is trying to do with the introduction of Emblem Rings in terms of gameplay. There are 12 of them in there Engage Fire Emblem, each associated with a character from the series’ 33-year history. Wednesday’s trailer confirms that alongside Marth engage will show Sigurd out Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy WarCelica out Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of ValentiaCorrin out Fire Emblem FatesByleth out Fire Emblem: Three Housesand Lyn out Fire Emblem: The Flaming Blade (aka 2003 fire sign for Game Boy Advance) as emblems.
With an Emblem Ring, players gain a passive and permanent buff to their units’ attributes. From there, they can also wield the Emblems (hence the game’s title), which grant special weapons and abilities beyond the standard upgrade. Of particular concern: the powerful Engage Attack, which looks like a super move that can end an encounter whether you’re ahead or behind.
The remainder of the video describes what the specific Engage Attacks, Weapons, and Abilities are for the Emblem Ring set. Engage Fire Emblem is the 17th installment in the series, but only the third in the last 15 years to be released on consoles. It will be released on Nintendo Switch on January 20th.
