For the first time in a decade, no one is working on Cyberpunk 2077

After a bumpy start at the end of 2020, numerous updates, a popular anime spin-off and a major DLC expansion, Cyberpunk2077 no one is working on it anymore, which may be the first time CD Projekt Red has done so in a decade.

Published in December 2020, Cyberpunk2077 had a huge amount of hype surrounding it. However, at launch it was anything but stable, with PC gamers encountering numerous bugs and performance issues. On consoles it was even worse, with gamers complaining about terrible performance, game-breaking bugs, and ugly graphics. It got so bad that Sony has removed it Cyberpunk2077 from the PSN Store for a while when players demanded refunds. But in the last four years CDPR was able to turn things around with free updates, and DLC. In 2024, most would agree, the game is probably better than ever. And now, after all that work and time, CDPR officially has no more developers working on Cyberpunk2077.

And in this chart you can see that in February there were still 17 people working on CP77But in April 2024, the same chart showed that no one was tinkering with the open-world game.

In view of Cyberpunk2077 was teased in 2013Since then, at least a few people have probably worked on the game in some form—including concept art or planning. That means that for about a decade, someone at CDPR has been working on Cyberpunk2077. It’s kind of crazy to think about.

Of course, it is possible that CD Projekt Red will bring some people back to Cyberpunk2077 for another update or a port to a new platform. But now, for the first time in about a decade, Cyberpunk2077 is resting.
