With the upcoming release of Genshin Influence Version 4.7, which continues the history of Spring and its inhabitants, players begin to look into the future. Developers HoYoverse is doing the same, as the company gave us a surprising first look at the action RPG’s next setting. As with previous major updates that have moved the game’s main story from location to location, the nation of Natlan will be the main event of version 5.0, and based on the teaser trailer, there could be some unexpected inspiration.
In accordance with previous updates and release plans, version 5.0 of Genshin Influence will be released towards the end of the summer – likely an August debut for the nation of Natlan. In anticipation of this, the recent 4.7 livestream included a taste of what is to come after the conclusion of Fontaine’s story. The short teaserwhich lasts just over a minute, doesn’t feature the mysterious Pyro Archon we’re all dying to know more about, but it does reveal a new method of transportation.
As mentioned in the trailer, Natlan is a nation where humans and saurians (a reptilian species with possible ties to dragons) live in harmony. Three species of saurians are shown with their unique methods of moving around Natlan: one can burrow underground and easily shoot up walls and other obstacles, the second swims through water and lava, and the third uses a grapple-like ability to shoot through the air.
The theory is that Natlan’s gimmick involves players transforming into these dinosaur forms to make traversal easier. The design and type-like function of these adorable creatures let fans make connections to Pokemon. And eagle-eyed fans have pointed out that the trailer starts off by showing six type-based icons before narrowing down to the three dinosaur types shown in the trailer, suggesting there may be more to discover.
Until then, players can look forward to version 4.7, which will be released on June 5th and will likely conclude the dramatic end of Fontaine and his Hydro Archon. It’s been a rollercoaster ride so far and it’s going to be tough for Natlan to top it.
