Developers have Half-Life: Alyx visit the Half-Life subreddit of the AMA in the upcoming VR article, and they definitely look determined to spill the beans.
While they do not reveal some of the great mysteries about the game, such as whether it will take us to new places in the timeline, there is an abundance of exciting insights hidden among many answers.
The selection of ten developers from all disciplines, including artists, designers, animators, and program presenters, gave us a fun look at Half-Life: Alyx it comes together. We've collected some very interesting answers and tips here.
Half-Life: Alyx has to be timed
Half-Life: Alyx It is currently expected to launch in March 2020, but with a string of other delays delaying the release of spring, fans are worried. Valve has always been a time-consuming company with each release.
Developers do not seem worried, and have noted that they need to do it some tweaks and paints the game, but no major changes are made.
"Many of us at Valve, as well as the game's assessors, have played this game many times," the team wrote. “At the moment we are focusing more on investigating and repairing bugs, which is where we hope to be at this stage in the development cycle. We are sure to hit our intended release. ”
Half-Life: Alyx is made by the largest team Valve has ever put together
According to the developers, Half-Life: Alyx is being developed by a group of "about 80 people, which puts it as the largest group we have ever had in Valve."
Half-Life: Alyx is about the same size as Half-Life 2
A great team seems to be needed for a VR game of this size and size; the devs estimate that there will be the same amount of content as Half-Life 2.
“Players have an equal amount of time to complete Half-Life: Alyx as they have done to fill Half-Life 2, ”Wrote the group. Games are compared to the amount of content. "
Half-Life and Portal talent will be gone
This includes some veterans, including engineers who have worked on the original Half life back in 1998. Mike Morasky, the composer he worked on Site 2 and Team Fortress 2, and other articles, has worked in music consulting from Kelly Bailey, a Valve composer who has starred in previous Half-Life games.
Erik Wolpaw, author at Web site and Site 2, consult with real people Half-Life 2 author Mike Laidlaw very much in the script.
The valve may be moving away from the silent opponents
Gordon Freeman is one of the most famous (or perhaps the most famous, depending on your point of view) protesters who are the protagonist in sports. Chell, protagonist of Web site, was as quiet as he was going through Aperture Labs. (Fun fact! Engineers have Web site games thought Chell it is possible speak, but he chose to live willfully.)
Alyx breaks the mold by talking throughout her journey, which is by author Erik Wolpaw Hope is becoming a new normal in Valve. "We have mutilated this agreement and it's become a joke in Portals, but you'll just pull that wave once," he wrote. "It was a lot of fun writing for Left 4 Deads where the characters are all little boxes of dialogue, so if I had my way we wouldn't have to argue with some of the silent workers."
You must not play to get up
The group had an update aspects of anger and comfort, and details of how the acquisition will work. One thing in games is to play with one arm, which will allow players without using both hands to play Half-Life: Alyx. There's also Left Mode, and you'll be able to play seated.
There will be more details of the layoffs in the coming months before the launch. Accessibility has been a major theme in gaming over the past few years, and VR games have their challenges when trying to reach as many viewers as possible.
VR headcrabs can be challenging for some players
If you want to know about the horror, a few flying from previous Half-Life games, are back.
One dev, Tristan Reidford, shared that he couldn't deal with them in VR. "When I'm testing a game, and I'm in a place where I don't know if any of these things are around, I'll take the headset off and hold it in my face as I try to look at the 2d screen, they minimize the impact of headcrab availability," he wrote.
Reidford admitted that he is the only one having trouble handling headcrabs, but it sounds like there are plenty of prophetic and awesome moments in the game … without going and far.
"Hor Hor is part of the framework, and by examining the game, we feel we have gained confidence as to where to find this line," writes Reidford. "Some of our best performances evoke a bad feeling rather than anger or shock, and without me, we've never seen anyone get out of a play test, even during play sessions."
A cheerier note, you can put a bucket on your head, and then the headcrab will spin around and pull the bucket from it. That is not a corpse, though inspectors report it.
It will also be seen that there is at least some kind of beast that worries about certain types of noise, and one enemy that can deal with organ removal.
