One advantage of PC gaming is that the two major console manufacturers keep releasing their best games on Steam, so we don’t have to choose between one or the other. A little over a week ago, PlayStation had its own big sale which the prices for games like God of War And Marvel’s Spider-ManNow it’s Xbox’s turn to offer PC gamers some great deals. Yes, the Xbox Spotlight Offer runs until September 27th and is the perfect time to play games with Master Chef and more.
During big sales like these, I always start by highlighting the game I think you should buy if you could only buy one during the sale. In this case, that would be the best Xbox exclusive of the last five years: Pentiment. Maybe 2022’s dialogue-heavy game about solving murders in 16th-century Bavaria isn’t what you expected from me. This game received critical acclaim upon release, but is often underrated due to its odd premise. But the team behind it should be enough to win you over. Pentiment was developed by a small team at Obsidian Entertainment under the direction of Josh Sawyer, who is perhaps best known as the director of Fallout: New Vegas.
The team at Obsidian is known for creating complex worlds and stories that are driven by player choices. This also applies to Pentimenteven if the medieval-inspired 2D aesthetic and the lack of a sprawling open world make you think otherwise. In PentimentYour choices will determine not only your fate, but the fate of an entire city over the course of 25 years. It’s a stunning narrative feat thanks to an incredibly fleshed-out network of characters, each living their own lives amid the changing times. At ten bucks, it’s a steal in the current sale.
