You can do a lot in Halo infinite. You can get completely lost in the woods on an abandoned alien space station. You can mow down hordes of religious aliens with a set of futuristic weapons and gadgets. You can apparently fly halfway across the map too, thanks to a newly discovered exploit that is oozing Breath of the wild Vibrations.

Coming out this Wednesday for Xbox and PC, Halo infinite differs in shape from the previous one gloriole Campaigns that were largely structured as linear first-person shooters. A good two thirds of the Halo infinite takes place in an expansive, explorable area with all the hijinking and fucking room one would expect. Case in point: Mint Blitz, an Australian gloriole
So what exactly is going on here?
First, Mint Blitz smashes a razorback with a gravity hammer and lets the vehicle fly. When it is lifted, it clings to it with the gripper –Halo infinite‘s picks up a grappling hook – timing it so that it disembarks at the apex of take-off. And it’s not just ultra-jumping for ultra-jumping’s sake. Nonetheless, exploits like this continue to blast the door open for speed running and are eerily reminiscent of similar exploits in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Earlier this fall, glitch hunters developed a move called “BLS sliding“Which essentially allows Link to fly unhindered over the map.
After over a dozen hours on a critical trail, Halo infinite isn’t a particularly long game, especially with some of the other open and open shooters out there (hi, Far away and other Ubi games). But one of the most significant time sinks is getting from one waypoint to the next. Avoiding this completely could reduce the number of hours considerably.
And then there’s the thing, oh right this game isn’t even out yet. Imagine what speed runners and glitch hunters will discover in a year, two or five years. The possibilities, it seems, are endless. (You’re fired – Ed.)
