Heidi Klum has always looked forward to Halloween. The German-American model and celebrity is known for throwing a star-studded Halloween party every year, where she will wear her own costume. In recent years she has worn absurd costumes like Fiona from Shrek or a flesh-eating alien. But this time she really outdid herself. On Monday she dressed up as a worm and I really think it’s her best work yet.
The costume is somewhere in the range of mild to extremely disturbing. The costume itself appears to be plump and fleshy. And it suits her face perfectly. It looks like the kind of creation that would be in an old-school Guillermo del Toro movie or any other fantastical horror film of its kind. Rather than go into detail, I think it’s best if you look at the outfit up close. Pictured below is Klum being interviewed in costume.
Klum explained further why she chose the stupid costume. “I wanted to think outside the box. I thought an earthworm would be kinda funny. We all know worms, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone that was an earthworm before.” Klum said it basically took all day to get her into the costume.
There’s a piece of all this that’s kinda deeply relatable. I, too, want to glide to a prestigious event covered in nothing but gunk and just lie on the floor while the busy world hums around me. It’s been a tough few years; We’re all tired. Maybe being a worm would be a nice change. I would, you know, slow down.
Plus, the costume feels like a nod to one of my favorite TikTok trends from two years ago. Inside, folks simply loved ones asked“Would you still love me if I was a worm?” Then they posted videos of them asking the question and the reaction and answer.
Of course, it’s a ridiculous question and doesn’t make much sense. But it’s fun! The usual answer usually involves some kind of confusion or Confusion regarding the hyper specific question. But now, thanks to Klum, we have a real-world idea of what it would be like if someone turned into a worm. Conclusion: Still adorable.
