Enough propaganda. Helldivers 2 You can equip yourself with body armor, a helmet and a cape before a firefight. However, not all of these armor sets are created equal. With unique stats and passive abilities, what you equip before heading into battle can be the difference between a worthless sacrifice and a job well done.
General armor types and stats in Helldivers 2
On the surface, armor inside Hell diver is pretty simple. There are light, medium and heavy armor types. Among these armor types, all three have the same stat categories:
- Armor Rating
- speed
- Endurance rain
Armor Rating refers to the overall toughness of your armor and how much damage you take. Speed refers to how fast you can move, and stamina regeneration determines how quickly you regenerate your stamina. It’s all pretty self-explanatory stuff. When viewing a specific piece of armor in the Shop or in Warbond Battle Passes, you can press Triangle/Y/Tab to view the stats of a specific body armor piece. You will see color indicators that show you whether the value of this armor will be higher or lower than what you currently have equipped. Example: If you look at a piece of armor that has a higher speed than the one you currently have equipped, the indicator will turn green and an arrow will point up to indicate that it is better in that particular area.
Helldivers 2 Since it’s not an RPG, don’t be afraid of having to memorize certain stats, but a general understanding of them will be helpful. Cloaks and Helmets don’t appear to improve your armor rating, speed, or stamina regeneration in any unique way at the moment (they all give a rating of 100 in each category and none seem to have passive abilities). However, when it comes to passive stats, you should pay attention to what each suit gets you.
Passive armor abilities
Body armor also has a passive armor ability. Not every piece of armor has a unique passive ability. For example, TR-9 Cavalier of Democracy and Savior of the Free both have the same thing: Democracy Protects, which grants a 50% chance of not being instantly killed by lethal damage while preventing bleeding.
Another example of a passive armor ability is Scout, which comes with the SC-34 Infiltrator armor. In this case, you will receive a radar scan in two-second increments on each marker placed on the map, revealing enemy positions in an area you have marked. Scout also makes it harder for enemies to track you. Here are all currently active armament passives Helldivers 2:
- Democracy protects: 50% reduced risk of being killed by lethal damage and prevents bleeding from chest hemorrhage
- Engineering kit: Reduces recoil when crouching or lying down by 30% and increases grenade capacity by 2
- Additional padding: Increases Armor Rating (note this is not reflected in Armor Rating status)
- Attached: Reduces recoil when crouching or lying down by 30% while granting 50% resistance to explosions
- With kit: Increases stim capacity by 2 and extends its duration by two seconds
- Servo assisted: Increases the throwing range of grenades by 30% and adds a 50% bonus to limb health
- Explore: Markers placed on maps scan the area every two seconds, reducing enemy detection by 30%.
Different passive armor abilities benefit certain playstyles and missions over others. Overall, it’s a good idea to take note of the gear you most want to equip so you can get the most out of what you have. If you equip armor with the Scout passive and then never mark areas of the map or constantly rush towards the enemy, its bonuses on the field become pointless.
With a regularly updated storefront and more content on the way, we expect Helldivers 2It’s meta, just growing with time. Therefore, we will definitely update this guide with any new additions to the game. Until then, what kind of gun protection would you choose to spread democracy?
