Helldivers 2 Studio debunks rumors of a PlayStation takeover

In recent years there has been a growing trend towards large gaming companies Acquisition of studios. However, one studio that won’t be taken over so quickly is Arrowhead Game Studios. The developer of the 2024 multiplayer hit Helldivers 2 recently had to deal with rumors growing on social media that the studio would be taken over by none other PlayStationwhich is definitely not the case.

The rumor that PlayStation would acquire Arrowhead originated on March 5 from a user’s post on X (formerly Twitter). @NextGenPlayer Explaining: “Arrowhead has been acquired by Sony, according to new rumors” and that an official announcement is “reportedly” in the pipeline. It was accompanied by an image of the PlayStation Studios and Arrowhead Game Studios logos side by side with the text “Welcome to the Family.” Some people thought this claim was possible considering PlayStation is the publisher behind both Hell diver games. Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead, replied

to the claim that it was fake, “unless I missed something.” Pilestedt also humorously pointed out that the fake image used a “shitty” version of the studio’s logo from 2008.
