There should be no surprises after reading through Nintendo’s top switch seller charts. What is interesting, however, is when you compare the games that are selling well with those that did well on previous hardware.
For example movement games, party games, Pokémon Games, Zelda Games and Mario Games have all done very well on previous Nintendo consoles. What’s more It is interesting, however, that new games, regardless of whether that is splatoon or Tomodachi life, have also done well, which keeps Nintendo’s top ten list from looking like it’s entirely repeating itself, generation after generation. You don’t!
The one franchise that tends to dominate all of the top ten lists, however Mario kart. On the Wii U, Mario kart 8 was the best-selling game with 8.46 million copies. Likewise his prequel Mario kart 7 was also the largest game on Nintendo 3DS, with sales of 18.95 million. Mario Kart Wii did not top the Wii’s top ten sales list (Wii sports did), but it came in second place with 37.38 million copies, and Mario Kart DS then came third on the DS sales charts Nintendogs and New Super Mario Bros. What can I say, people sure love it Mario kart.
