Just because E3 2020 has been canceled does not mean that all developers would suggest that it is suddenly disappearing. Although there is no E3 digital version in the works, other companies and organizations have come up with their virtual events to bring news to their latest plans and games.
Unlike E3, which traditionally runs only one week in June, these transition events are dispersing in the coming months. Some are set for the time when the actual E3 would have taken place. Some, like Ubisoft & # 39; s Move Forward, will take place over the summer. Many questions remain, too, such as, when Nintendo will be managing its next Directcastcast and when Tony will finally release the PS5.
However this year no E3 is shaking, it will be one of the last opportunities to hear about what everyone is planning for the next generation of game consoles before finally arriving. Here is a list of everything we know right now that we will review as more strategies are finalized:
Summer Sports Week – May 12 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern time
Announced in early May, Summer Game Fest is a a digital event that lasted for months organized by Game Awards presenter Geoff Keighley. It is not yet clear what the festival will include but we do know that there will be some game demos available in some form and individual debates promising new announcements. The first of those, titled "Sunrise # 1" will be broadcast live on May 12 at noon. "Managing expectations for Tuesday's game is really cool and fun," Keighley said he said on Twitter.
Guerrilla co-op – June 6 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time
Guerrilla Collectra is a one-of-a-kind shows focused on indie and mid-sized studios led by Kinda Funny founder Greg Miller. It takes place throughout the weekend of June 6, with two online news events, the first on Saturday and the second on that Sunday, followed by a date for the demos and developer interviews on June 8. Some of the studios attached are Bit Studios, makers of Frostpunk, Larian Studios, makers of Gate III of Baldur, and Versus Evil, the people behind The Banner Saga and Pillars of Eternity 2: Dead Fire. People in the background Disco Elysium it will also be there. Is it too much to hope for that expansion is already in the works?
PC Sports Show – June 6 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time
The one-off broadcast sounds like it will take place during the main event of the Guerrilla Collective, this year's PC Games PC will also be hosted by a former assistant. StarCraft pro Sean "Day9" Plott and station broadcaster Frankie Ward. These usually play as a crowd of people sitting just next to the bed showing games from all different genres. Large, unexpected announcements are rare, but the PC Gaming Show can end up hearing exciting details about projects of interest from developers themselves.
Steam Game festival – June 9 to 14
With the technology that was part of Keighley & # 39; s Summer Game Fest, I wanted to separate the Steam Game Festival separately because it is actually where the demons of some of the games revealed at various events will be played. As the name implies, the demos are up for Steam. This year Microsoft will also be taking part in the event, suggesting that demons in some of their collectable games may be live at this time.
CD Projekt Red, Night City Wire – June 11 at TBD
The makers of Cyberpunk 2077, which was originally due out in April, have announced a live stream of all the upcoming games. Who knows what that will entail? Many celebrities come maybe? Or maybe Switch Amiibo-related decommissioning? Whatever CD Projekt Red announces, hopefully there is no further delay.
EA, Play Live 2020 – June 11 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time
Traditional EA Play events enable members of the public to play demos and interact with influencers, but apparently this year will be online. The publisher has yet to reveal what will be shown, but between EA Access coming to Steam sometime this year and Anthem 2.0 in the works, EA has a lot to talk about.
Ubisoft, Move Forward – July 12 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time
Instead of sticking to the E3 timeline from previous years, Ubisoft's rebranding event will take place in July. The publisher is still calling it "an E3-style show", and says it will include the unveiling of new games. In addition to finding out more Assassin & # 39; s Creed Valhalla hopefully we will get a release date Watch out for Legion dogs. It was scheduled to arrive in March but Ubisoft has delayed it sometime before April 2021.
Microsoft, Xbox 20/20 – July, TBD
We are already looking at some upcoming games on Microsoft & # 39; s next-gen console in early May, but that was the first in a series of monthly events highlighting the company's plans. While there will be one in June again, Microsoft hasn't said anything about it. Instead, the company is promoting its July event, where it will focus on first-team games. Microsoft continued to shop in 2018 and now has 15 in-house studios working on new Xbox Series X games. One of them Halo Infinite, is set to come out of this downturn with the long delays of some gameplay. Meaning, real gameplay footage.
Other events coming up over the next few months are the annual E3-adorver Digital news conference, which is in the works but has no date yet, and the Limited Run Games publisher & # 39; s press conference, scheduled for June 8 3:00 pm ET. Some publishers such as Square Enix and Warner Bros. have not confirmed any digital replacement events, while Bethesda mentioned earlier it would not be hosting a digital show in June.
