Kurast Lower Town is a time attack style dungeon exclusive to Diablo 4‘s first expansion, Vessel of hate. Here, you’ll dive beneath Kurast, the capital of Nahantu, to rush through the dungeon as quickly as possible, regain time for killing monsters, and increase your reward threshold by earning attunement.

Included Diablo 4 In this guide, we’ll show you how to unlock the Kurast Undercity activity, how to improve your loot rewards, and how to avoid running out of time.

How to unlock Kurast Undercity in Diablo 4

Kurast Undercity takes place… underneath the city of Kurast, as you can imagine. To unlock this activity you must first make progress Vessel of hate Campaign until you reach Kurast and work for the council there. This should be around the time you face the first big boss.

A member of the council will then teach you how to perform the basic version of the Kurast Undercity. (In the endgame you can apply modifiers, which we won’t go into here.) As you progress through the questline, you’ll unlock new districts to explore.

This will give you more time in Kurast Undercity

Kurast Undercity is a time attack dungeon, and you just start with it 100 seconds by default. However, in order to complete the dungeon and receive rewards, you must fight your way through multiple dungeon floors to find the boss. Unless you’re too high for the difficulty level you’re on, this process will almost certainly take more than 100 seconds, meaning you’ll be kicked out of the dungeon and end your run before you can finish it.

They are spread across every floor of the dungeon Affected monsters And Affected structures (which usually look like big hamster wheels). These objects and enemies have an orange hourglass next to their icon on the map. Defeating affected monsters or destroying affected buildings gives you time back and can even take you past the 100 second start time. However, these are elite monsters and structures with high health. So you have to decide if the time you have to spend killing these monsters is worth the time you get back in return.

Ideally, you can stack multiple affected monsters at once and deal area damage to kill them all at once, giving you a lot of time back without having spent a lot of time.

How to upgrade your Kurast Undercity loot chest

The whole point of Kurast Undercity – like most activities in Diablo 4 – is to get powerful new loot and further improve your build. You will receive a chest filled with loot if you reach the last floor of the dungeon in time and then kill the boss. But you can improve this loot by filling up yours Attunement Meter. You must have at least Attunement Level 1 to receive reward upgrades.

To increase your attunement, which you can stack up to four times, you need to activate it beacon And Big beacons as I race through the floors. These beacons spawn a horde of monsters, all connected to the beacon itself. If you can kill every enemy attached to the beacon, it will spit out a lot of attunement, steadily increasing your meter. In our experience, there are more Attunement Beacons and Grand Beacons than you need to cover your attunement reading. So you can gradually skip some and still get decent rewards.

The only thing to keep in mind about Attunement is that it’s designed as a trap, meaning the back-and-forth of the Kurast Undercity activity attempts to test your greed. If you run out of time, stopping for more attunement can cost you the entire run, meaning you won’t get any loot, just slightly less loot. Try not to be greedy and you can get great rewards from grinding Kurast Undercity.
