Link’s paraglider is an indispensable tool The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it’s actually pretty easy to miss if you decide to wander around Hyrule once you’ve completed the tutorial section. If you somehow managed to spend several hours in the game without picking up the glider, here’s a quick overview of how to get it, so that the next time you jump off a sky island you won’t be faced with plants.
Where’s the paraglider in? Tears of the Kingdom?
In order to get the paraglider, you must complete the main quest “Into the Kingdom of Hyrule”. Go to the center of the map and go to Lookout Landing to speak to Purah, a recurring character and fan favorite from breath of the wild. She will tell you about a group of scouts searching for Link and Zelda in Hyrule Castle and asks you to report to Hoz and tell him you are alive. This starts the Crisis in Hyrule Castle quest, but you don’t have to play through this quest to the end to get the Glider.
Hoz is pretty easy to find. Just follow the path from the back where you talk to Purah first. It’s a bit of a hike and once you hit a gate you might get confused. You can just walk around the cliff or climb through it and then head up the path lined with soldier dudes. Eventually you will reach a castle structure which you will also need to climb where he will be waiting for you at the top. You will have a brief interaction with him before what appears to be a Zelda sighting. Be careful while navigating all of this, however, as the area seems prone to thunderstorms, which will require you to remove all metallic objects.
Once you’ve reported to Hoz, return to Lookout Landing to speak with Purah. She’s working on a Skyview Tower, the first of several you’ll find throughout Hyrule. These are the equivalent of breath of the wild‘S Sheikah Towers as they act as fast travel points and add detail to your map. After activating the first one and landing safely on the ground, Purah will gift you the paraglider. However, unlocking the Skyview Tower and Paraglider is not required to explore the open world Tears of the Kingdom
How do I adjust the paraglider? Tears of the Kingdom?
You’ll get different patterns for your glider throughout your journey, but using them isn’t as simple as equipping them like a new sword or shield. Instead, you need to go to the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno, which is in the Necluda region on the southeast side of the map. It will cost you 20 rupees for each new design, so have some money ready before you go. If you have amiibo, be sure to scan those as well, as some come with special glider skins. Have fun gliding!
