Hideo Kojimathe man who created and directed cinematic games Metal Gear Solid 4 And Death Strandingtook to Twitter to do what so many movie nerds love to do: post about 200 words on social media about a movie they recently saw. According to the acclaimed director, people will reassess the box office debacle Joker: Folie à Deux in the next decades.
On November 4th, Kojima posted that he had recently seen this joker Sequel, which is already available to stream at home a terrible opening weekend at the box office after negative reviews in general called the film a boring courtroom drama. According to Kojima’s post, he liked the animated opening section of the film and seemed to enjoy the “meta perspective” of the sequel.
“In the [film’s] Process that follows, the question of its multiple [personalities] is argued from start to finish. Is the Joker Arthur? Is the Joker another personality (his shadow)? Who exactly is Arthur? This revelation eventually turns into a meta perspective,” he said on Twitter.
“In the previous film jokerWas it really Joker that captivated audiences around the world? Or was it Arthur? This is a question that Lee and even the people of Gotham City are constantly asked in the film. We live in a time of mass production of heroes of “poetic justice,” a battle between good and evil. There have been a lot of spin-off films recently that focus on the villains. Can villains also be superheroes? Is this question, posed on the big screen as a DC film, too avant-garde? Was it the Joker that audiences around the world loved? Was it Arthur? The reviews vary here.”
Kojima suggests that in the next “10 or 20 years” the Joker 2‘s “reputation” will change, as will future superhero films.
“It may take some time for this to become a true ‘Folie à deux.’ But there is no doubt that everyone in the audience loved Joaquin and Gaga in this film,” Kojima concluded. In 10 years, will someone look at this post again and ping me to see if people love it? Joker 2 until then? Cool, thanks!
