Almost every ad I see on TikTok is for this video game about walking in weird high-heeled shoes. High heels! is inevitable – so I downloaded it this afternoon. The only break I’ve taken from playing is writing this blog. I am trapped in high heels prison surrounded on all sides by video game advertisements about remodeling.
I watched my heels get so ridiculously high that my character – I play as Hitman’s Knockoff Agent 47, complete with the barcode neck tattoo – was pushed off the screen. I saw how he fell into the ether in his rainbow-colored heels from the eternal catwalk and the rag doll.
You may have seen the videos too. Ads for High heels! are all over TikTok and in free gaming apps. Gameplay videos from High heels!
This is in fact the requirement of High heels! As you collect heels on the obstacle course, your shoes will rise. This is important because your shoes have to be taller than obstacles to get over them. After overcoming an obstacle, you will be knocked down a few inches and have to collect more heels to get to the runway where a circle of fans will be waiting for you.
If you’re still confused, developer Rollic, who was acquired by casual game company Zynga last year, says on the App Store:
Are you ready for the best high heels game ever?
Watch out for the walls! The higher your heels, the easier it will be to escape from the walls. Different obstacles await you on each level! There are rails to spread your legs and slide on, walls to jump on, a stick to balance, and a huge podium waiting for you at the end of the street. Among the dozens of different accessories that you can buy in the store, there are buckles, necklaces, puppies in a bag, and angel wings. And most importantly, you can find heels with very different models and colors to match your style!
If you go on your heels you will feel like a QUEEN!
Do not forget! You have to choose as many high heels as you can on the street so you can walk on a podium!
There are various obstacles to stomp over, but my favorite is the breakup. To get past, your heels need to be long enough to hold you up as you span a gap. The character (in my case, Knockoff Agent 47, which I unlocked by watching three ads) claps while sliding.
Not surprising, High heels! took off and is now a meme. You should check out the ratings and reviews on the Apple App Store. there are a lot of (almost 38,000) details the elaborate and fun ways the game saved lives. Here’s my theory: the game is the perfect amount of highly satisfying gameplay and meme content coupled with a player base that is increasingly eager to be entered.
It’s also free for Android devices in the Google Play Store. The ads are pretty over the top, but there is a paid version too.
Rollic’s High heels! may be a short-lived App Store star, but the developer knows how to make a hit. Blob Runner 3D, another game made by Rollic, is currently number 2 on the App Store.
