Change who can see your recordings
To get started, navigate to and select the Settings option using the gear at the top center of your Xbox’s dashboard. Navigate to “Account” and select “Privacy and online security.” Then select Xbox Privacy. Here you will see various default settings as well as the “View details and customize” option. Select this option and navigate to “Game Contents”.
The second option, “Others can see your recordings on Xbox,” should be set to “Only me” for maximum privacy, “Friends” if you want to share a recording with people you are friends with, and “All on.” the Xbox”. Internet” if you want to share your recordings with anyone who has an internet connection.
The next option: “You can see and upload community creations.” As with the previous settings, you have three options, with “Block” being the most restrictive. If you return to privacy settings, you can also select “Sharing outside of Xbox” in Settings to control who can see and share content you create outside of the Xbox network.
Stop automatic uploads to the Xbox network
From the main Settings menu, navigate to Settings and select Capture and Share. Here you can globally determine whether you want to take recordings at all or not. You can deactivate automatic uploads to the Xbox network under “Automatic uploads” and in OneDrive.
Note that if you want to backup screenshots from your Xbox, you will have to do so manually to external storage if these settings are disabled. Since OneDrive is personal cloud storage tied to your Microsoft account, this is a great way to back up your screenshots and videos without making your recordings public.
