Nintendo is new Metroid Prime Remastered—physical copies of the Switch game released on February 22nd, if you could get your hands on one-has a lot of Things inside. As you guide the stalwart bounty hunter Samus Aran around the twisted planet of Tallon IV, you’ll collect some valuable upgrades and modifications to her powerful space suit. For example, the Boost Ball will help you curl Samus into a fast, silvery ball, the Flamethrower will melt through enemies and thick sheets of ice, the X-ray Scope lets you see every bone in an enemy’s body, and so on. The Gravity Suit, which allows Samus to explore underwater areas uninhibited, is one of the most significant and important members of it Things, but it can be a little difficult to find it yourself. That’s where I come in.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to get the Gravity Suit.

Can you get the gravity suit in? Metroid Prime Remastered early?

Unfortunately not really. Getting the Gravity Suit requires the Ice Beam which requires the Spider Ball upgrade which requires you to defeat the Boulder boss Thardus which reminds me…

Requirements before getting the Gravity Suit

Before attempting to find the Gravity Suit, make sure you’ve cleared most of Phendrana’s snowy drifts, including the Sheegoth mini-boss and the true boss, Thardus. Proceed once you have the…

  • wave ray
  • super rocket
  • Thermal visor
  • spider ball
  • and Ice Beam

…the Gravity Suit is the next chronological upgrade.

Now go (again) to Phendrana Drifts

At this stage of the game, you’re probably used to running to and from the drifts for upgrades, but you might still be unsure what the right path is for you. It’s not your fault, Google Maps never made it to Tallon IV.

So, OK, you’ve retrieved the Ice Beam from the stone antechamber of the Chozo Ruins and saved your game at the next station. Excellent. Now get your butt off and start another journey back to the Phendrana Drifts.

From the antechamber, head left through the doors until you can scan and enter the Tallon Overworld South elevator. Or, if you’d like, there’s an energy tank instead and an artifact you can pick up – head back into the Hall of Elders to solve a morphball puzzle for the tank, then go to the sun tower and scan four rune symbols , then you will get the Wilderness Artifact from the Sun Chamber.

Whether navigating from the Tallon overworld now or taking the North Magmoor Caverns elevator near the Sun Chamber, your next objective is to get to the Caverns Monitoring Station. Once there, cross the bridge to get to the Phendrana Drifts North elevator. Use it, reach Phendrana Coast and save your game.

You have options from here. You can make your way through the West Ice Ruins until you make it all the way back to the Research Core to snag a Rocket Extension at the Hydra Research Laboratory along the way. UsUse your fresh Ice Beam to open the frosty door in this room, then head through the Pike Access hallway to reach Frozen Pike. Or you can return to Thardus’ Quarantine Cave boss room instead, ignore the nearby Magmoor elevator, and complete a Spider Ball maze to get to Frozen Pike.

Either way, once you’re in Frozen Pike, you’ll need to open the purple door with your Wave Beam. It leads to the Frost Cave entrance, which leads to Frost Cave, another save point. Save there and then turn left to the Upper Edge Tunnel and Phendrana’s Edge.

You are so close now! Get in the water and go through doors until you’re in the Gravity Chamber – the Gravity Suit, denoted by the S-shaped Metroid icon, spins like a coin on the other side of the chamber on the left. Your Thermal Visor should help you identify it by appearing yellow in the dirt.

A notification will indicate that you have purchased the Gravity Suit.

Yay!

Where to go after getting the Gravity Suit

The Gravity Suit allows you to move and see underwater with more ease, and once equipped you can reach the Wave Beam door that leads back to the Hunter Cave, Frozen Pike and finally the Magmoor Caverns South elevator. Slide back to the landing pad in the Tallon overworld. Go to the frigate crash site and start swimming – there is an underwater area that you can easily explore now. I know you basically started this, but you have to spend money to make money.
