If you spend a lot of time in the sunshine of the upper world The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomyou really should attempt when you want to run out of arrows. Finally, you’ll often fight bokoblins and other beasts, who will drop a ton of arrows if you catch them with a well-placed headshot.
But once you venture into the deep, dark depths, the story is a whole different story. When you first go there, you’ll be advised that you can attach Brightbloom Seeds to your darts to create cones of light wherever you want to go. And that works great! But after just a few minutes of using arrows in this way, your supply will quickly run out.
There are plenty of Brightbloom seeds in the depths, but how to make up for the lack of arrows? The Tears of the Kingdom The developers have thought of this! (Although it’s not the most intuitive solution.)
You can actually throw any material you have in your inventory and it will activate when it hits the ground. These include Brightbloom Seeds, which shed the light you seek when exploring the depths.
How to throw items in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Simultaneously pressing up on the D-Pad and Right Bumper at any time during gameplay will bring up a menu of all the items you can throw. To make it easier, use the Y button to sort by “Most Used” and you’ll likely see Brightbloom Seeds. Hover over the seeds and release both the up and R buttons and Link will throw the item.
There’s actually a brief second when Link prepares to throw where you can control where the throw should go. If you want to get decent range with your seed toss, try aiming a little up. Here’s a GIF showing it all in action:
You still want to use your darts for those moments when you need your seeds to get a little more range, but generally it’s fine to just throw most of them.
Note that this works with all sorts of materials. Bomb Flowers, for example, will explode if you throw them this way. So be careful what you throw!
