mercenary are one of the most important added features Diablo 4 in the Vessel of hate Extension. These allies will accompany you through the world of Sanctuary as you play alone or in a group, supporting you in a variety of ways.
Included Diablo 4 In this guide, we’ll walk you through how the Mercenary system works Vessel of hateand what every mercenary does.
How to unlock and use Mercenaries in Diablo 4
You will unlock the mercenary system as part of the Diablo 4: Vessel of Hate Campaign. During your journey to Nahantu, you will meet Raheir, who will eventually take you there Mercenary Cave. This location acts as a sort of hub for all of the mercenaries in the game. Here you can accept quests to unlock additional mercenaries, customize your current allies, and even trade with special currency that you receive for leveling up your mercenaries.
Once you reach the mercenary cave, you can also unlock and take more mercenaries with you. There are currently four mercenaries Diablo 4
Note that as a solo player, you should purchase at least one additional mercenary before proceeding Vessel of hate story, otherwise you’ll end up wasting a lot of it Mercenary experience (rapport)
If you are traveling alone, you can appoint any mercenary as your bodyguard. They constantly travel with you and you can level them up by defeating monsters together. While mercenaries don’t have any equipment to worry about, they do have four skill points and a small skill tree so you can customize their moves. You can change your hired bodyguard at any time.
If you are a solo player who has already hired a main mercenary, or are playing in a group (which automatically suppresses your hired mercenary ally until you are alone again), you can still hire a second mercenary as backup. This must be done with a different mercenary than your currently hired mercenary.
Reinforcements also gain rapport and level up with you, but are only used under certain conditions – conditions that you set. You can create a trigger with your reinforcements, allowing you to summon them into battle when you use a specific skill on your bar. When the trigger occurs, they jump in and use a skill you assigned to them. Since this effect has a cooldown, you should try to combine his skill with one of your trigger skills that have a similar cooldown or that you use regularly.
As hired bodyguards and reinforcements, mercenaries can drastically change your approach to combat Diablo 4especially if you’re a solo player, so take your time during the campaign to experiment with them.
All mercenary skills and unlock requirements in Diablo 4
Raheir is the first mercenary you will meet and he is impossible to miss. You will find him during the primarily Vessel of hate campaign and he will introduce you to the entire system. He acts as your first mercenary and you can make him either your main bodyguard or your backup. Built to protect you, Raheir serves as a tank. He has abilities that allow him to intervene when you are about to die or trick enemies into attacking him instead. It also functions as a cave Blacksmith and can repair or save your equipment.
Aldkin is located directly to the right of Raheir in the cave and you can access it via the “A nameless secret” quest that you can pick up once you unlock the Mercenary Cave. Aldkin is the magic-user of the mercenaries and uses a playstyle often referred to as “kiss/curse,” meaning her abilities will harm you in some ways, but have powerful benefits. Their abilities revolve around shadow and fire magic, and they occasionally transform into a powerful demon that can decimate enemies. They also serve as a cave Occultist and can improve your equipment with legendary aspects.
Varyana sits directly to the left of Raheir in the cave and you will see her during the “Hunter’s Retribution” quest that you can pick up once you unlock the Mercenary Cave. Varyana acts as the combat warrior of the party, using dual axes or a two-handed mace to dish out punishment. Your main perk is Massacre, which gives you a large movement speed buff when you chain enemy kills together.
Gulp sits on the far left of the cave and you will see him during the “A feather on the scale” quest that you can pick up once you unlock the Mercenary Cave. Subo acts as the group’s villain, dealing damage from a distance with a bow or crossbow. Subo’s main perk highlights enemies and materials in the environment and occasionally marks a target so you can recover resources by killing them. His abilities revolve around traps and stuns or fire and damage over time.
