To unlock one Punch Man, you'll first need to upgrade your custom character (mine is "Average," for the record) to Grade B in Story mode. Start by increasing your Contribution Level to 3000, which you can do by filling in the side at the Society's branch office. Once you've hit 3000, you'll receive an email from the Hero Association, requesting backup. Take a look at Association HQ and take a post on the main subject "Offering Protection and Air Conditioning."
Fans of the manga and anime will see what happens next. You enter the alley and stumble upon Genos, which is a double. It is against a Mosquito girl, and on the verge of defeat, she has stopped monitoring. This is a video game, asking for your help. If you can survive against the Mosquito Girl for 30 seconds – it can get you out of a few beats, if you're not careful – Saitama will appear and save the day. (With a standard G deviation from the source content, you completely covered the incident.)

Press L1 to tap Saitama into battle, and make one basic attack to defeat immediately. (In battles, Saitama is invincible and can take on any opponent with a single hit.) With your efforts, your character will become the most recent Class B champion – but, I'm sorry, you will never unlock One Punch Man until now.
After getting Grade B, you will need to increase your Contribution Level to 4000. Once that happens, you'll find out someone else email from Hero Association. From there, return to the Hero Association HQ and take on the mission to "End the Invisible Beast in the House." By the time you appear, Genos and Saitama will be standing on top of a defeated beast. Cutscenes emerges, and then Saitama forces Genos, his pupil, to take over the reader: you.
Genos' first mission for you is to fight a baddie called Vicious Monster. Without a doubt, the strongest fight in the game comes to that point. If you have a problem, just press L1 to switch to Genos. Use his mighty powerful cyborgDragon Ball attack to get the edge in combat. The victory will open the Backstreet Area on the map.
You haven't unlocked One Punch Man, but that's where you can unlock One Punch Man.
See that arrow? This is where Appraiser is. Screen: Bandai Namco (Kotaku)
Start by visiting the Appraiser. After he thanks you and gives you a gift, you will receive another email from the Hero Association asking you to return to HQ. If you turn, you will be sent by Overbearing Monster. He survives 20 seconds, and Saitama will appear and take him out of one place. After that battle, another writer will appear, Monster Monster. Of these, you have been empowered by One Punch Man from the beginning. You know what to do.

All told, I played about four and a half hours in story mode on One Punch Man game before opening One Punch Man.
