Google Pixel users will get the latest "Rules" are included on their devices starting today. The rules are interesting IOS Shortcuts, lets you create toggles for default settings changes when you're in certain locations – or Android Rules are very limited to shortcuts, by comparison. In the meantime, you can start setting up Rules that will:
- Turn on "Do Not Disturb" mode.
- Set notifications to silence.
- Set vibration alerts.
- Set notifications to ring.
The new rules menu also has the option to turn on legal suggestions by going through your phone and changing your settings – for example, your phone might suggest creating a rule that mutes alerts outside your home if it constantly detects a refusal volume when you leave home.
As to how you make your own Rules:
- Go to Settings> System> Advanced> Rules (You will need to give the Rules permission to run in the background and make changes to your settings the first time you open the Rules page.)
- Tap Enter a rule.
- Tap "Enter local Wifi network"
- Finally, there is also an option at the bottom of the page that lets you give push notifications when a rule change is started.
- If you set everything up, tap "Add" at the bottom of the menu to complete the rule set.
- The rules you've made will be listed below Settings> System> Advanced> Rules. You can remove the rule by tapping on the trash you can put next to it.
A new menu of Rules has been added recently Google Pixel Feature Drop, itself part of the March 2020 Android security patch for Pixel devices. You can download it now by going to Settings> System> Advanced> System update.
