Norwegian giants Erling Haaland broke the Premier League record earlier this week, scoring his 35th goal of the season with four games remaining in a 3-0 win over West Ham. He was then interviewed by Skyand said something that has stuck in my mind ever since.
When asked what he thinks about securing that record and potentially getting his hands on more, the 22-year-old said
The presenter then asked him “which video games are you playing at the moment”, to which Haaland replies: “I can’t say that, it’s too embarrassing”.
Really.

First, my friend, I want to say that there is no video game that you should be ashamed of playing. It’s 2023, there are games for all lifestyles, platforms and budgets, and so you can play any type of game you want to play.
Secondly, though, I suspect he’s still embarrassed because he’s a professional footballer, and maybe thinks that the boys (and/or assholes on social media) will screw him if they find out. If so, I’m curious.
What possible game could a man who’s 1.95m tall, makes £375,000 ($470,000) a week and is one of the top five footballers in the world be too embarrassed to talk about?
It won’t be FIFA or call of Dutyand probably would not be something like Fourteen days either. Athletes from all sports and all over the world are constantly streaming such games
Which has led to suggestions it could be something softer, a game that Haaland – rightly or wrongly – might not think is the kind of game great soccer player should play. animal crossing, possibly. Maybe something European, like a farming or truck driving simulator. Maybe he spends $470,000 a week on Robux. Maybe it is Honkai: Starway. Maybe it is redfall.
Or maybe yes is FIFAand he’s just playing as himself. Don’t be embarrassed dude, if I was in the game and had stats that good, I’d do the exact same thing.
